A shorter afternoon version of our popular morning cruise – departing from Keauhou Bay, the birthplace of Hawaii’s longest reigning Monarch, King Kamehameha III.
Guests will experience a historical journey from the birthplace of a Hawaiian King to the place of death of the great Circumnavigator Captain James Cook at Kealakekua Bay. In between they will hear stories and view several historical sites such as the last battle stand at Kuamo’o Battlefield and view the Royal Holua Slide, the largest and best preserved in the state, and a historical landmark.
Don’t miss the opportunity to experience this award winning snorkel cruise to historic Kealakekua Bay, site of Captain Cook Monument. This 3-1/2 hour cruise departs from Keauhou Bay and includes 1-1/2 hours of snorkeling at pristine Kealakekua Bay, snorkel gear, instruction, floatation gear, high dive and two 15’ water slides.
Assorted snacks are served and no-host cash bar is open during the last hour of the cruise.
Great Snorkeling — Great Value!
The Afternoon Kealakekua Snorkel Cruise is one of the best kept secrets around, just ask a local! Guests are basically getting the popular morning cruise without the meals (breakfast & lunch). The overall cruise duration is therefore shortened a bit, but with plenty of time to have fun snorkeling. Plus, afternoons in Kealakekua Bay are generally absent of other tour boat operators – providing for a truly serene experience. And, Toddlers 3 & under go free!
The afternoon snorkel cruise to Kealakekua Bay on the Fair Wind II departs Keauhou Bay at 2:00 PM and returns at 5:30 PM. Check-in at 1:30 PM. Bring towels, reef-safe sunscreen, sun hat, etc. (storage boxes available on catamaran).
*NOTE: Our vessels are reef safe zones, and we do not (allow/ condone) the use of non reef-safe sunscreens. Complimentary environmentally-friendly “reef-safe” sunscreen is provided for our guests (available at check-in and aboard all vessels).
With its natural wind protection, remote location and designations as an underwater state park, marine sanctuary and site of the Captain Cook Monument, Kealakekua Bay is earning a reputation as the best snorkeling destination in Hawaii.
According to Hawaii – The Big Island Revealed, The Ultimate Guidebook, “Snorkeling in Kealakekua Bay near the monument is perhaps the best you will find anywhere in the state.”
What others are saying
This was our 3rd time on the Fair Wind Cruise. The snorkeling trips in the past have always been Fun. This one was not. Extremely over priced. Poor service. Seemed to be all about the $$$ and nothing else. No interaction from the crew. They did their job and nothing more. The only cruise I’ve been on that charges for Beer, Wine. Understand not having an open bar and not serving until the trip in. But, ridiculous to charge the price they charge and still expect you to pay “overpriced charges” for an alcohol based drink. I feel ripped off to pay $165.00 per person for what we received. Will not be doing this cruise again in the future. Shop around before you book this trip. Will say lunch was good. No snacks offered on way back into port.
Excellent cruise, took us to a gorgeous spot for snorkeling! Crew was very attentive! Top notch! Very impressed.
absolutely amazing ... well done from start to finish ... even arranged for some dophins to visit the boat on our way back to port!!
went on the morning cruise. and I just have to say ...IT WAS AMAZING!!!! my first time snorkeling and now I'm in love with it. all the staff was very friendly and helpful. the food was amazing and very good. we definitely be come back and doing this again. thank you Fair Wind for a memorable experience.
Great experience!! We would recommend them to anyone!! This is definitely the snorkel cruise to do!!
Another wonderful day on the Fairwinds!!!! Been going on the Fairwinds since the 80’s....The best thing to do in Kona, simply heaven.
Did the morning snorkel on 10-3-18 and had a terrific experience. Neither wife or I are snorkelers or particularly good swimmers but the crew made us feel very comfortable making sure our equipment fit well and had the proper flotation. So many amazing fish, great crew on the boat and a tasty lunch onboard. This trip was one of the highlights of our two weeks on 3 islands. Mahalo
Every time I go to Kona my brother and I always make our top priority going on a Fair Wind Cruise. The staff are all super amazing, they’re knowledgeable and you can tell that they enjoy their jobs. I highly suggest doing the more expensive of the cruises. Also can say that the lunch you get is amazing as well. Very healthy meals for the most part. If they still make it their Hibiscus tea is highly addictive.👌 The only time I didn’t enjoy myself on a Fair Winds Cruise was when there were baby sharks in Kealakekua Bay and I only panicked for a moment. Someone always asks when I’ve been on a cruise if there are sharks in the water (I asked at first) and the best answer I ever heard was a staff member telling me to dip my finger in the water and lick it. If it’s salty there’s sharks. 😂 You guys are amazing can’t wait to go back.
Great cruise today with dolphin and false killer whale sightings! Loved the high dive and slides!! Great crew! We will cruise again for sure!!
